High Definition Distance
Learning Classroom at Glades Day School
May
20, 2010 —
This year,
Glades Day School and Summit Christian
collaborated to create an environment where
the Physics and Chemistry teachers at Summit
Christian teach Glades Day School students
via high definition synchronous video
conferencing, in real time while teaching
their own students.
This project was awarded the DeWitt E. and
Vera Hooker Fellowship Grant by FCIS in
April 2010.
The program has been a great success thus
far and administrators see this as a
valuable tool for independent schools.
The program will be presented at The Kings
Academy Technology Conference in West Palm
Beach on Friday, May 21, 2010 and at the
FCIS Convention in November of 2010.
The video (link above) was created by
students at Glades Day School under the
supervision of Mrs. Lohmann (Journalism
teacher) and Ms. Primmer (Web Design
teacher). Thanks to David, Abbie Jo,
Caroline, Tanner, and Sydney.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
Glades Day School’s philosophy is to
provide an outstanding educational
environment that balances academic,
athletic, and spiritual components that
prepare its students both for college and
for life.
The school fosters individual achievement
and development through a wide variety of
elective and enrichment courses, a strong
program of extracurricular activities, and
an opportunity to join a number of
school-supported activities that encourage
moral and spiritual development. Close ties
between administration, parents, teachers,
and students are welcomed and encouraged in
a pleasant, secure, and supportive
atmosphere.
