A Message From the Elementary Principal
We are pleased to
offer a preschool program that
includes K-3, K-4 and
participates in the V.P.K.
programs. Having a preschool
program provides our students
with a stable and secure
atmosphere from their first day
of school to the last day of
their educational experience.
All grades, with the exception
of the sixth grade, are in
self-contained classroom units
with one teacher. Two
core-subject specialized
teachers teach the sixth grade
classes. Most of our classes
have an average of 20 students.
The elementary
school faculty consists of
experienced, dedicated
professionals who constantly
strive to meet the
ever-changing needs of each
child in the classroom. The
curriculum addresses the
academic, social, physical, and
emotional needs of each child.
The basic subjects taught are
Language Arts (reading, phonics,
English grammar, spelling and
writing), Math, Science and
Social Studies. Additional
instructors teach Physical
Education, Art, Spanish, Library
Skills and Computer Skills. The
Language Arts program in the
primary grades places a heavy
emphasis on phonics with a
literature background. In
addition, grade-appropriate
reading comprehension, grammar,
spelling and written composition
are part of the whole reading
program. In the intermediate
grades, the Language Arts
program shifts from
phonics-based to a
literature-based program.
Students are introduced to a
variety of award winning novels.
The Math curriculum has been
developed to provide the basic
skills necessary for success in
problem solving, critical
thinking, and analytical
reasoning.
