Dear Friends, For over forty years Glades Day School has been providing an outstanding educational environment and quality education for students in the communities of western Palm Beach County and the Lake Okeechobee region. This has been possible through the unique combination of: Outstanding teachers and administrators willing to sacrifice some salary to pursue a teaching career in a unique, positive environment. Individuals and businesses throughout the area that are exceptionally generous in providing the necessary financial resources for this school. Supportive and involved parents who sacrifice to give their children the best possible educational opportunity. Glades Day School has always taken pride in being a community school and is only private in the sense that it is not supported by tax dollars. Rather, individuals, businesses and foundations support Glades Day School. In fact, our school has one of the lowest tuition rates of any independent school in Florida. Yet, even with very low tuition, dozens of GDS students receive additional financial aid each year. It is important for supporters of Glades Day School to realize that many of our students are not from affluent or privileged backgrounds, but rather from hard working families seeking to provide their children with a quality education. These efforts have paid off! Glades Day School, like most other independent schools, is a non-profit corporation that depends on tax-deductible contributions to meet a portion of its operating budget and virtually all of its capital needs. Throughout its history, there have been hundreds of GDS graduates who have gone on to distinguished careers in medicine, law, business, the arts, public service, the military, and education. Those who have supported GDS financially feel good about their contributions. This school and the generosity that has enabled it to operate for over four decades has brightened the futures of hundreds of young people. If you are considering becoming a part of the GDS family, talk to an existing parent or contributor to the school...we think you will be strongly encouraged to participate.
